“Mommy, where do babies come from?”
If your answer is “Home Depot” you’ve come to the right blog. Welcome to Kids and Sex!—a sex-positive blog for fostering sexual health in children.
What do I mean by “sex-positive”? Glad you asked. The short of it is I’m biased. I believe that sex is one of life’s greatest gifts and that each of us should be supported in our quest for sexual fulfillment. In place of ignorance, superstition, and condemnation, I favor information, facts, and celebration. You won’t find talk of abstinence-only sex education here. Instead, I’ll talk about what works and what doesn’t from the perspective of a psychologist as well as a parent of five sexually healthy young adults.
I’ll try to be funny as often as possible—after all, what’s funnier than sex?—and remain positive while encouraging you to do the same. We won’t always agree and that’s okay. I invite you to share whatever you’re thinking. In the meantime, let’s talk to kids about sex and have some fun doing it. I’ll show you how.
